This TV wall mount in Brookvale, on the Northern Beaches, was a 55-inch LG on a flat bracket in an apartment. The wall itself was straightforward. What made it tricky was the split-system air conditioner already on the same wall, so the position mattered more than usual.
TV Wall Mount in Brookvale Around an Air Conditioner
Apartments often have less wall to work with than a house. Air conditioners, power points and built-in joinery all compete for the same space.
Before mounting anything, I worked out a height and position that gave comfortable viewing. I also kept the bracket well clear of the aircon unit, so servicing either one later won’t be a problem. I’ve written more about how I choose the TV height with customers.
Why a Flat Bracket Suited This Brookvale Wall
A flat wall bracket holds the TV close and square to the wall. It works well when you don’t need tilt or swivel and want a clean, low-profile finish.
That made it a good fit for this plasterboard wall, where everyone watches the TV straight on. It’s also the bracket I fit on most jobs.
TV Wall Mounting in Apartments Across the Northern Beaches
Apartment walls can have their own quirks, like awkward stud spacing or a wall shared with the neighbours. It’s worth having someone check the wall properly before a bracket goes up.
Getting the position right the first time also matters more in a smaller space. There’s less room to adjust if the TV ends up too high or too low.
If you’re in an apartment, a few things help before I arrive:
- Send photos of the wall, including the aircon, power points and antenna point.
- Check your building’s strata rules about drilling into walls.
- Let me know if there’s visitor parking. There’s a full list in what to have ready before your installer arrives.
