When you have a beautiful open-plan living space on the Northern Beaches, it deserves an audio-visual setup to match. This recent job in Avalon Beach was all about doing exactly that — replacing an outdated 55” setup with something genuinely premium, and getting the room’s technology right for years to come.
Out with the Old: A 65” LG on a Vogel Swivel Mount
The first step was upgrading from the old 55” TV to a brand new 65” LG, wall-mounted using a heavy-duty Vogel swivel bracket. The swivel functionality is a real game-changer in an open-plan space like this — the screen can pivot out toward the kitchen island for cooking or entertaining, then sit flush against the wall for relaxed lounge viewing.
While getting the new TV in place, we also cleared out a significant tangle of old, messy cabling from inside the cavity wall. The result is a completely clean finish — no cables in sight, no clutter, just a sleek screen sitting perfectly on a beautiful neutral wall.
In with the New: Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub Mini
For the sound, we installed the Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar, sitting neatly on the media console below the TV, paired with a Sonos Sub Mini for some serious low-end depth. It’s a powerful combination that completely transforms the room’s audio without a tangle of wires in sight.
The client is already planning the next stage — adding a pair of Sonos Era 100s as wireless rear speakers to complete a full surround sound setup. Since the older Sonos Play:1 speakers aren’t compatible with the new Arc Ultra ecosystem, the Era 100s are the natural next step, and it’s going to be a brilliant upgrade when the time comes.
