This was a return visit to a client in Warriewood — I’d helped them out before with their Samsung TV and Foxtel setup, so I was already familiar with the space. This time, the problem was different. TV dialogue was hard to follow, voices felt distant, and cranking the volume wasn’t really fixing it.
After a look at the room and their entertainment unit, it was obvious a soundbar was the right move — and they happened to have a perfect spot for one.
The Right Soundbar for TV Dialogue Clarity
After checking the cabinet dimensions, I recommended the Sonos Beam. It’s one of the best compact soundbars for dialogue-heavy watching — the kind of upgrade that actually solves the problem rather than just adding thumping bass.
We measured the opening to confirm the Beam would fit, and the client went off to buy it. Once it arrived, they gave me a call and we got straight into it.
Clean Install, Hidden Cables, No Compromise on the Look
Their TV was a Samsung Neo QLED QN90 — a premium set that uses Samsung’s One Connect box, which routes all cables into a single thin cable running up to the screen. That made connecting the soundbar clean and straightforward right from the start.
To keep the inside of the cabinet tidy, I hole-sawed through the panel and routed the cables neatly between compartments — nothing visible, nothing hanging out the back.
From there I set up the Sonos app, created their account, and ran Trueplay — Sonos’s acoustic calibration that uses your iPhone’s microphone to tune the soundbar to the actual room. We also switched on Dialogue Enhancement for extra vocal clarity on voices and TV audio.
The moment it fired up, the difference was immediate. Voices were clear, the audio felt full, and they could finally watch at a comfortable volume without straining for every word.
Is Your TV Audio Letting You Down?
Whether it’s muffled dialogue, thin sound, or a home theatre upgrade you’ve been putting off — a quality soundbar properly set up makes a real difference to how you actually enjoy your TV.
