Samsung TV Wall Mount in Avalon on a Solid Brick Wall

Samsung 55-inch TV wall mounted on solid brick wall in Avalon, Northern Beaches

This one was in a townhouse in Avalon, mounting a 55-inch Samsung on a solid brick wall.

Brick changes the job. Most of the walls I work on are gyprock, where running a cable through the cavity is straightforward. Solid brick doesn’t give you that option without chasing a channel into the masonry, patching it and repainting after, which is a lot more work and mess than most people want for a straightforward wall mount.

Wall Mounting on Solid Brick in an Avalon Townhouse

For a clean look on brick, I used a super slim wall mount, which sits the TV about 1cm off the wall. It’s about as flush as you can get without chasing into masonry, and it keeps the TV looking properly mounted rather than sitting out on a bulky arm.

Solid brick is also a different fixing job in its own right. The bracket needs the right anchors for masonry rather than the timber stud fixings I’d use on a gyprock wall, and I make sure whatever’s holding it is rated for the size and weight of the TV going up, not just whatever came in the box.

Why I Used Conduit Instead of Hiding the Cable in the Wall

Since the cable couldn’t run inside the brick, I ran it down the wall in plastic conduit instead, matched to the wall colour so it sits quietly rather than standing out. It’s not invisible the way an in-wall cable is, but it’s tidy, it protects the cable, and it’s the realistic option on solid masonry without a full chase-and-patch job.

It’s worth knowing this going in if you’ve got brick or concrete walls: hiding a cable completely usually isn’t possible without significant extra work, and conduit is the practical trade-off that still looks neat.

Thinking About a Wall Mount on a Brick Wall in Your Northern Beaches Home?

If you’re not sure whether your walls will take a hidden cable or need conduit, it usually comes down to what’s behind the plaster. Brick, concrete, or a double-brick townhouse like this one generally means conduit is the way to go. I’m happy to have a look and let you know what’s realistic for your place before any work starts.
