TV Wall Mount and Soundbar Problems I Found in Newport
Getting the Sony Bravia and Bose Soundbar Working Properly in Northern Beaches Homes
I got a call about a Sony Bravia TV setup in Newport after a customer upgraded their old telly to a brand new 85 inch Sony Bravia with a Bose soundbar to match. Both had already been installed by the store they bought them from. The TV was up on the wall and the soundbar was sitting under it, but the sound wouldn’t sync, and nobody had ever actually logged the TV into Google TV. It looked finished. It wasn’t.
When I got there I worked through what had actually been missed. The soundbar was plugged into a normal HDMI input instead of the eARC port, so the TV had no way to send audio to it at all, which explained why nothing would sync no matter how many times they tried pairing it. The old set-top box from the previous TV was still doing all the work too, because nobody wanted to run a fresh antenna cable through the wall for the new set. On top of that, Google TV had never been signed in, so there was no Google account on it, none of the streaming apps the customer wanted, and none of the smart features doing anything useful.
None of this is unusual for a retail install. The team gets the TV up on the wall and a picture showing, then they’re off to the next job. Working out which HDMI port actually supports eARC, migrating over old gear, or setting up a Google account and streaming apps isn’t really part of a delivery-and-mount job.
Fixing it meant going back to basics rather than patching around what was already there. I took the TV down off the wall with the customer to get proper access to the cabling, then ran a new antenna cable through the wall cavity so the old set-top box could finally be retired. That freed up an HDMI input, which I used for the customer’s DVD player instead. From there I retuned the free-to-air channels on the Bravia itself, set up a Google account for the customer, signed the TV into Google TV for the first time, and loaded the streaming apps they’d asked for. Last job was moving the soundbar’s HDMI lead across to the eARC port. The sound synced up straight away, no pairing dramas at all.
If your TV’s mounted but the soundbar won’t sync, the smart features have never really been switched on, or you’re still running an old box you don’t actually need anymore, I can sort it properly. I handle TV wall mounting, setup, and troubleshooting right across Newport and the rest of Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore.
