When the Bracket Doesn’t Fit the TV — 32-Inch Hisense Wall Mount in Frenchs Forest

Here’s a job that comes up more often than you’d think. A customer in Frenchs Forest had bought a 32-inch Hisense and a swivel bracket to go with it, ready for a spot at the top of the stairs. The bracket was rated for the size, the box said it would fit, and it didn’t.

The problem was the VESA pattern on the back of the TV. Hisense had used a hole spacing that didn’t line up with anything on the bracket’s plate. You can’t just force it — bolting into the wrong holes, or into holes that only half catch, is how TVs end up on the floor. So I fitted an adapter plate between the two, which gave the bracket a proper square set of fixings to bolt onto and put the load where the manufacturer intended it.

Getting a Non-Standard VESA Pattern Onto a Bracket

If you’ve bought a TV and a bracket separately and the holes don’t match, that’s usually what’s happened — the VESA measurement is the distance between the mounting holes on the back of the screen, and smaller TVs in particular don’t always stick to the standard sizes. It’s not a fault with either product. It just means an adapter is needed, and it’s a five-minute fix if you’ve got the right one in the van.

A Clean Corner Finish with Conduit in Frenchs Forest

The mount went into the corner at the top of the stairwell, which is a good use of dead space but leaves the power cord nowhere to hide. There was no chance of running it inside the wall in that spot, so I ran it down in white plastic conduit that follows the corner line and disappears against the paint. From a few steps back you don’t notice it at all.

The swivel bracket means the screen can be angled toward the landing or back flat against the wall, which is exactly what the customer wanted in a walkway.
