This TV installation in Frenchs Forest, on the Northern Beaches, was for a new customer who’d just bought a couple of 55-inch LG TVs. They wanted both on the wall, one in the bedroom and one in the upstairs lounge room. The house also had a handy feature that made hiding the cables easy.
TV Installation in Frenchs Forest: Two LG TVs in One Visit
Doing both TVs on the same visit kept things simple for the customer. One went up in the bedroom, and the other in the upstairs lounge room. A 55-inch used to be a big TV for a bedroom. These days, though, it’s one of the most common bedroom sizes I install.
Using the Built-In Wardrobe to Hide the Cables
The power and antenna points sat inside the built-in wardrobe on the other side of the TV wall. So the cables could go straight through the wall from the back of the TV into the wardrobe. As a result, there are no cables on show in the room, just a clean, neat finish.
It’s also practical. Because the connections are inside the wardrobe, they’re easy to get to later. For example, you can reach them if you need to unplug the TV or add another device.
Got a Wardrobe Behind Your TV Wall? Tips for Northern Beaches Homes
A built-in wardrobe or cupboard behind the TV wall can be one of the easiest ways to hide cables. Here are a few things worth checking:
- Look inside the wardrobe for a power point and an antenna point near where the TV will go.
- If there’s no power point, a licensed electrician can add one inside the wardrobe before the TV goes up.
- Check what the wall is made of. Plasterboard is easy to work with, while solid brick takes more planning.
- Leave a little room in the wardrobe for any cables and plugs, so they’re not squashed by clothes or shelving.
